Drs appt update

Today was a bit more eventful than that I thought it would be. I got to ak a lot of questions about what having a c-section is like and discussed the bit of cramping I'd been having. Cramping I guess is normal which is good as I haven't had any other symptoms of prelabor and the contractions I have been having are very sporatic. No bed rest for me which is good. We are planning my c-section around the 22nd of October in which I'll be 39 1/2 weeks. We should know for sure the date within the next appt or 2. And yes, I have decided on a C-section for many reasons. I don't want to hear about how labor is such an amazing experience blah blah blah. I'm not into the whole natural crap and when there is something wrong with your child you want that baby out as soon as possible. I'm already going to be freaked out enough by being a patient in the hospital (for those of you who know me I can't even get my blood drawn without passing out). I don't want to go through hours of labor stressed out if my baby is okay or not. No thank you so a c-section it is. I'm very excited for him to come and am looking forward to meeting him. I know we have a long road ahead of us but the last few weeks I've really come to terms with how our baby is going to look and what we need to do to fix it. Thank you for all your support!

  1. You won't get any bashing on c-sections from me!! LOL. And I for one am all in favor of pain drugs!! LOL

I've delivered both ways - natural with our firstborn, and then a c-section with Rachel. And I am probably in the minority when I say that I much preferred the c-section route!!! LOL.

Don't let people give you grief for choosing to go that route with your firstborn. This isn't their journey to walk, and like you said, you chose what you think was best for YOU and for your baby!

Way to go Kari!! How exciting!!

  2. I know you probably dont want to hear it, but I cant help but to encourage you to look into a planned C-section after labor has
naturally started. (As in, having your c-section after you've started contracting, vs at 39.5 weeks) The chances of not having time for the c-section once labor beings are just about the tiniest in the universe, especially with a first baby, but you would have the benefit of being sure that Riley wont inadvertently come out prematurely, which happens quite often with planned c-sections. I would just hate for you to have extra complications. Lots of love, and thinking about you!

  3. Courtney-
We have certain people in the room that need to be present when I deliver and that's one of the reasons why we are doing a planned c-section. Also, I am closely monitored by ultrasounds. I'm only having a c-section a few days before my due date. If my doctor felt the baby was too small then we would wait. We have checked my due date several times and around the 26th is what we've been told each time.
